Summary

Description Nortown Casitas, North York (now Toronto), Ontario, Canada: 3 firestopped pipe penetrations in a 2 hour fire-resistance rated concrete floor slab. The metallic pipes are firestopped with rockwool packing underneath and 3M Fire Barrier Mortar on top. The plastic pipe in the middle is firestopped with a plastic pipe device consisting of a sheet metal collar and intumescent rubber strips type 3M FS195. When the plastic pipe melts and burns in a fire, the intumescent will expand and choke this melting pipe off, thus preventing the fire from entering the floor above.
