Etymology[edit]

Named after Ludvig Lorenz. This is a different person than Hendrik Antoon Lorentz for whom the Lorentz group is named.

  1. (electromagnetism) A partial gauge fixing of the electromagnetic vector potential, used to eliminate the redundant spin-0 component in the (1/2,1/2) representation of the Lorentz group.
