Esperanto[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Borrowing from Ancient Greek ἕδρα (hédra). Probably through Ido edro, attested earlier.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
edro (accusative singular edron, plural edroj, accusative plural edrojn)
Ido[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Borrowing from Ancient Greek ἕδρα (hédra). Ancient Greek borrowings in Ido follow the latest stage of the pronunciation, not the orthography. Thus resulting in a loss of the letter H.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
edro (plural edri)
- (geometry) face, outer surface of, superfice
- (geometry, mineralogy) outer configuration of a regularly crystalizing mineral, as a dodecahedron
