Usage notes[edit]

Legge translates 調飢 as "great hunger", apparently based on Zhu Xi's glossing 調 as 「重也」 ("grave, serious").[1] On the other hand,《毛詩傳》Mao Commentary glosses 調 as 「朝也」.[2]
