Summary

Description
English: Interior of the walk-in closet in Woodrow Wilson's bedroom at Woodrow Wilson House. Just as you enter the bedroom, there is a door to your left. This door opens on to a cedar-lined closet, where many of Woodrow Wilson's suits and jackets are hanging.

In this closet is the cutaway tuxedo he wore on Inauguration day in 1913, the academic regalia he wore during his professorship and presidency at Princeton University, and the kangaroo-and-wombat fur coat (given to him by the Australian ambassador to the United States) which he wore on his tour of U.S. troops during Christmas 1917/New Year's 1918. Also located here is his famous silk top hat, and the black fedora he wore most of his life.

Woodrow Wilson House is located at 2340 S Street NW in Washington, D.C. After Wilson's second term as president ended on March 4, 1921, he moved into this house with his wife and two servants. Crippled by the 1919 stroke that ended his presidency, Wilson died in the house on February 3, 1924.

The house was built in 1915 by Henry Parker Fairbanks, a Boston businessman and carpet industry lobbyist, and designed by celebrated architect Waddy Wood.
