Equirectangular projection, plate carrée. Geographic limits of the map:

  • E: 33° E
  • W: 16.5° E

The area of southwestern Finnish dialects is shown in red. The lighter red area are the southwestern transitional dialects, transitional between the southwestern and Tavastian dialects.

Country borders are shown in black, dialect area borders in grayish and the Western-Eastern Finnish dialectal categorization border in red.

  • Land, sea, country borders (except for Estonia-Russia): CIA World Data Bank II (public-domain)
  • Finland-Sweden maritime border: roughly based on MRGID 5676 from Marineregions.org, licensed under CC BY 4.0
