Description
Deutsch: Dendrochronologie bestimmt das absolute Alter von Holz mit Hilfe der Jahresringe. Jedes Jahr bildet ein Baum einen neuen Wachstumsring aus. Wie breit dieser wird, hängt von der Witterung und vom Standort ab. Trockene Sommer oder kalte Winter führen zu engen, niederschlagsreiche und milde Winter zu breiten Ringen. Unter dem Mikroskop lassen sich diese vermessen. Diese Analyse lässt sich auch sehr gut auf alte Hölzer anwenden. Damit lässt sich das Alter exakt bestimmen.
