Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /e.dit/
  • (file)

Proper noun[edit]

Édith f

  1. a female given name, equivalent to English Edith

Usage notes[edit]

  • In older French practice, capital letters did not take diacritics, so É becomes E. This was mostly done because of technical constraints. Formal orthotypography maintains the diacritics.
