Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Celtic *olo- (behind, beyond), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂el- (alien, other). Cognate with arall (other), Cornish ooll, and Old Irish ol (because); outside of Celtic, compare Proto-Slavic *olni (last year).
