Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish اوركنتی (ürküntü, “a sudden fright, panic”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish اوركمك (ürkmek, “to be frightened, to start with fright, especially for a horse to shy”), from Proto-Turkic *ürk- (“to be afraid”),[2][3] morphologically ürk- + -ün + -tü.
