Lithuanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Originally "to gambol, jump," from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eǵ- (to drive), similar to Sanskrit अज् (aj, goat).[1] However, compare Proto-Slavic *zajęcь (hare).
