Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Loloish *ʔaŋ ~ *ʔak, from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ʔa(ŋ/k)- (noun prefix). Compare Burmese အ- (a.-) and possibly Old Chinese 阿 (OC *qaːl).
