Lashi[edit]
Letter[edit]
ˮ
- High lexical tone.
Usage notes[edit]
The only final plosive that occurs on syllables with this tone is [k]. This tone letter is thus restricted to the sequences aˮ amˮ anˮ angˮ agˮ (and similarly for other vowels).
Lhao Vo[edit]
Letter[edit]
ˮ
Usage notes[edit]
High tone is written ⟨ʼ⟩ with a final plosive, including the otherwise unwritten glottal stop. The possibilities are thus aˮ amˮ anˮ angˮ abʼ adʼ agʼ aʼ (and similarly for other vowels).
Tundra Nenets[edit]
Pronunciation[edit]
Letter[edit]
ˮ
- The thirty-sixth letter of the Tundra Nenets alphabet, written in the Cyrillic script.
Usage notes[edit]
Usually marks instances of the glottal stop /ʔ/ that either do not participate in any alternation, or alternate with the oral stop д (d°) /d/, in contrast with the letter ʼ. Often transcribed q in scholarly sources. In some words the letter is silent and is used to indicate word-final consonants that are not followed by an unwritten schwa.
