Etymology[edit]

A mountain with the same name exists in Berat, Albania, and other places also share a similar name, namely Tomorrica in Skrapar, Related to Greek temno cut + oros mountain (sharp mountain) PIE *tom-/*tem- "cut", Vale of Tempe, Tomi city, Tomouroi priests of Dodona (wood-cutters) or chastified (with cutten tail, line oura) or tomarion diminutive of tomos slice, piece of land, tome, volume.Τόμαρος (Tómaros) and Illyrian *Temus, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰh₁s-o-. Altogether suggests a common Illyrian origin. Alternatively related to marr (obtain, get) from Proto-Albanian *mar(en)-, thus meaning "obtainer".
