Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Lewy suggests a Semitic origin, comparing the gloss with Semitic words for "skull", like Aramaic גּוּלְגַּלְתָּא (gulgaltā), Hebrew גֻּלְגֹּלֶת (gulgṓleṯ) and Akkadian 𒄢𒄢𒇻 (/gulgullu/).

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

καικύλην (kaikúlēn)

  1. Hesychius gives the definition as: τὴν κεφαλήν (tḕn kephalḗn, literally the head).
