Etymology[edit]

Learned borrowing from Koine Greek ὀντότητα (ontótēta), accusative of ὀντότης (ontótēs), with semantic loan from French entité and essence.[1] By surface analysis, οντ- (ont-) +‎ -ότητα (-ótita).
