Etymology[edit]
From Ancient Greek τίνος (tínos), genitive singular of the interrogative pronoun: masculine, feminine τίς (tís) and of neuter τί (tí). Compare to the indefinite pronoun τίς (tís) with genitive τινός (tinós, “of/about someone”).
