Etymology[edit]

Learnedly, from the Hellenistic Koine Greek τροχιά (trokhiá, wheel-track; path), from the ancient τροχ(ός) (trokh(ós), wheel) + -ιά (-iá).

For sense orbit, semantic loan from French orbite.[1]
