From Kipchak اياز (ayaz, “clear (of weather), frosty”), from Proto-Turkic *ańaŕ (“clear (of weather); frosty”).
Cognate with Kazakh аяз (aäz, “frost”), Kyrgyz аяз (ayaz, “clear sky, frost”), Khakas аяс (ayas, “clear (weather)”), Tuvan аяс (ayas, “clear (weather)”), Turkish ayaz (“frost”), Uzbek ayoz (“frost”), Uyghur ئاياز (ayaz, “clear sky, frost”), etc.
