Etymology[edit]

Synchronously, ағыу (ağıw, poison) +‎ -ла (-la, affix forming a verb).

Compare to Karakhanid [script needed] (ağula-, to add poison into food);[1] Tatar агуларга (ağularga, to poison), Uzbek ogʻulamoq (to poison), Uyghur ئوغۇلىماق (oghulimaq, to poison), Turkish ağılamak (to poison), Turkmen awulamak (to poison).

Verb[edit]

ағыулау (ağıwlaw)

  1. (transitive) To use poison to kill or cause damage to somebody
  2. (transitive) To pollute; to cause to become poisonous
    Диоксин иң тәүҙә тупраҡты, һауаны ағыулай.
    Dioksin iñ təwźə tupraqtı, hawanı ağıwlay.
    Dioxin first of all pollutes soil (and) air.
  3. (transitive, agriculture) To treat (e.g. crops) with insecticide, herbicide etc.
