Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Turkic *burgu (“horn, bugle; pipe made of a plant stem”). Cognate with Uzbek burgʻu (“horn”), Turkish boru (“horn”), Khakas пырғы (pırğı, “hunting horn”), Tuvan мурғу (“pipe made of a plant stem”), perhaps also Chuvash пӑрӑх (părăh, “pipe”)
