Mongolian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Mongolic *belcixer (compare Dongxiang banche), a derivation from the ancestor of бэлчих (belčix, to graze). Possibly related with Yakut мэччирэҥ (meccireñ).

Ultimately, probably from *bel, for which see бэл (bel, slope).

Noun[edit]

бэлчээр (belčeer) (Mongolian spelling ᠪᠡᠯᠴᠢᠭᠡᠷ (belčiger)); (regular declension)

  1. pasture
