Mongolian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Mongolic *dobtul-, compare Daur dortulgw (to rush someone).

Perhaps from the same root as давших (davšix, to advance) and давхих (davxix, to gallop) which could be connected to Proto-Turkic *dabra- (to hurry), (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) see Turkish davranmak.

Verb[edit]

довтлох (dovtlox) (Mongolian spelling ᠳᠣᠪᠲᠤᠯᠬᠤ (dobtulqu), causative довтолгох)

  1. to gallop (to ride swiftly)
  2. to charge
  3. (figuratively) to do quickly
  4. (figuratively) to lash out
