Causative-iterative from nowadays obsolete/dialectal лю́ска (ljúska, scale, husk) +‎ (-ja) (< Proto-Slavic *ľuska).

Expressive semantics (listed by some dictionary as a separate etymon) is from related interjection люс (ljus, whoosh).
