Borrowed from German Psychiatrie, from Ancient Greek ψυχή (psukhḗ, soul, mind) and ἰατρεία (iatreía, healing, medical treatment). Compare Russian психиатри́я (psixiatríja), Belarusian псіхіятры́я (psixijatrýja), Polish psychiatria.
