Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *tumšuk. Cognate with Turkish tumşuk (large beak), Kazakh тұмсық (tūmsyq, beak), Kyrgyz тумшук (tumşuk, beak), Uzbek tumshuq (beak), Uyghur تۇمشۇق (tumshuq, beak) and Tuvan думчук (dumçuk, nose).
