Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old East Slavic оузъкъ (uzŭkŭ), from Proto-Slavic *ǫzъkъ, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂énǵʰus. Cognate with Ukrainian вузький (vuzʹkyj), and more distantly Latin angustus, Sanskrit अंहु (aṃhu).
