Etymology[edit]

Unknown, found only in Khalkha and Khamnigan Mongol kiima, which may be a loan.

Edal proposes a connection with Proto-Tungusic *xemugde (belly, intestines), see Evenki эмугдэ (əmugdə, innards, heart). [1]
