Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Ruthenian *сизый (*sizyj), from Old East Slavic сизъ (sizŭ), from Proto-Slavic *sizъ. Possibly related to сівы́ (sivý). Compare Russian си́зый (sízyj) and Ukrainian си́зий (sýzyj).
