From ӏуашъхьэ (ʼwaŝḥɛ, mount) +‎ мафэ (mafɛ, day); hence literally “Mount day”. Cognate with Kabardian ӏуащхьэмахуэ (ʼwaśḥɛmaxʷɛ).
