Borrowed from Middle Median *Arāmayīs, from Old Median *Rāmanīsah (one who strives to peace, joy), from Proto-Iranian *rāma- (joy, peace) + *ais-/*is- (to strive). Related to Արամ (Aram) and Արամանեակ (Aramaneak).
