Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Armenian *թառ (*tʻaṙ), Proto-Indo-European *tr̥sós (“surface for drying”), from Proto-Indo-European *ters- (“dry”).[1][2][3] The o-stem of the Armenian is preserved in the Georgian borrowing თარო (taro).
