Etymology[edit]

From earlier *լէնիմ (*lēnim), of uncertain origin. Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *ḱleyn-, from *ḱley- (to lean). The verb is suppletive: part of the conjugation is filled by forms of եղանիմ (ełanim).
