Etymology

Probably from Proto-Indo-European *(s)libʰ-reh₂, and cognate with Proto-Germanic *slipraz (“smooth; slippery”), Ancient Greek ὀλιβρός (olibrós, “slippery”), though the cognates point to a *-b-, not *-bʰ-.

     Եւ ո՛չ որպէս բազումք յանամօթից և ի լրբաց, որք և ո՛չ սակաւ ինչ ի նորա ուղղութեանցն՝ զոր գործեաց՝ գործիցեն, և եթէ տեսանիցեն զայլս ի բարիս և զանձինս սակաւ ինչ ի տրտմութեան, բազում հայհոյութեամբք կորուսանեն զոգիս։
