From the root ר־א־ה (r-ʾ-h). In form, it is the passive participle of the verb רָאָה (ra'á), but semantically, the most common senses of the verb are not closely related to the most common senses of the adjective.

רָאוּי • (ra'úy) (feminine רְאוּיָה, masculine plural רְאוּיִים, feminine plural רְאוּיוֹת)
- Good, fitting, appropriate, desirable, suitable.
