Ultimately from Latin rhythmus from Ancient Greek ῥυθμός (rhuthmós, “any measured flow or movement, symmetry, rhythm”), via Belarusian рытм (rytm), Polish rytm, Russian ритм (ritm), Ukrainian ритм (rytm). Compare German Rhythmus.
