اِخْلَوْلَقَ (iḵlawlaqa) XII (archaic)

  1. it is hoped, it may be (with أَن (ʔan) + subjunctive)
    Synonyms: عَسَى (ʕasā), (rare) حَرَى (ḥarā)
    اِخْلَوْلَقَ ٱلسَّلامُ أَنْ يَنْتَشِرَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ.
    iḵlawlaqa s-salāmu ʔan yantašira fī l-ʔarḍi.
    It is hoped that peace spreads on the earth.
    اِخْلَوْلَقَتِ ٱلثَّقَافَةُ ٱلْعَرَبِيَّةُ أَنْ تَعُمَّ أَرْجَاءَ ٱلْعَالَمِ.
    iḵlawlaqati ṯ-ṯaqāfatu l-ʕarabiyyatu ʔan taʕumma ʔarjāʔa l-ʕālami.
    It is hoped that the Arab culture spreads in every corner of the world.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The verbs حَرَى (ḥarā) and اِخْلَوْلَقَ (iḵlawlaqa) are rarely used in contemporary Arabic.
