Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *īrte- (“to seek, search”), from earlier *īŕte-. Doublet of اِسْتاماكْ (istēmēk, “to seek, pursue”).
Cognate with Turkish irdelemek (“to search, investigate”) and Yakut ирдээ (irdee, “to search, track down”).
