Persian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *trab-, *treb- (dwelling, room). Cognate with Manichaean Middle Persian tlwʾr (talawār, hall, tabernacle), and Mazanderani تلار (telâr, barn). Related to Persian طربال (tarbâl, monastery), Persian تلیبار (talibâr, a hut used for breeding silkworms) and perhaps (dialectal) Persian طنبی (tanabi, hall).
