Of Iranic origin; perhaps entered standard Persian as a dialectal form or from another Iranian language.
Compare Classical Persian دیده (dīda, “iris, eye”), Middle Persian tytk' (*tīdag, “pupil”), and Baluchi تیلگ (tilag, “eye”).
