Etymology[edit]

Akin to Safaitic 𐪙𐪆𐪇 (ḏs²r), explained by Hisham ibn al-Kalbi as being from ذُو (ḏū) plus the name of a mountain range southeast of the Dead Sea, thought to be the god's home.
