  1. to be long, last long, stretch to a great extent
    طَالَ بِهِ ٱلزَّمَنُ.
    ṭāla bihi z-zamanu.
    The time was long to him.
    طَالَ بِهِمُ ٱلْوُقُوفُ.
    ṭāla bihimu l-wuqūfu.
    They stood for a long time.
    (literally, “The standing was long to them.”)

  4. to surpass in length or tallness
  5. to overcome finally
  6. to benefit
