Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tumagu (common cold); cognate with Azerbaijani tumov, Bashkir тымау (tımaw), Kazakh тұмау (tūmau), Kyrgyz тумоо (tumoo), Tatar томау (tomaw), Uyghur تۇمۇ (tumu), Uzbek tumáv and Yakut тумуу (tumuu).
