Etymology[edit]
From Beja enkulib (“sugar canes”), plural of enkuluub. Words suffixed with ب (-(V)b) often originate from Beja. Compare عنقريب (ʕangarēb, “wooden bed”), بعنيب (baʕanēb, “a kind of eagle”), ويكاب (wēkāb, “an ingredient of sauce”).
