Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Arabic مَاسُورَة (māsūra, bobbin, reel), from the passive participle of the verb أَسَرَ (ʔasara, to bind).

ماسوره (masura or masra)

  1. bobbin, spool, a cylinder or spindle around which threads, wires or cables are wound
    Synonyms: استاج (istac), مقره (makara)
  2. spout, a tube or duct through which a liquid, especially water, is poured or discharged
    Synonyms: امزك (emzik), اوج (uc)
  3. masura, a unit of measure of volumetric flow equivalent approximatively to 4.5 L/min
  4. (anatomy) duct, a vessel that conveys lymph or secretions such as tears, bile or saliva
