Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish حالا (hâlâ), from Arabic حَالًا (ḥālan), adverbial accusative of حَال (ḥāl).

- hālā ˁiryā ìlēh miṭrā l-baddar. biˁrāyā ìwā qām ḥamšā daqīqē.
- Is it still raining outside? It was raining five minutes ago.
