Etymology[edit]
From ܡܵܐ (mā, “what”) + ܐܲܝܟ݂ (ayḵ, “like, as”); Literally, “That which is like”. Compare similar in Arabic كَمَا (kamā) and Hebrew כְּמוֹ (k'mó).
