Assyrian Neo-Aramaic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Possibly related to Aramaic [script needed] (nṭal, “to lift up”) or Aramaic [script needed] (nšal, “to be removed”) or a blend of the cognate of Classical Syriac ܢܬܲܫ (ntaš, “to pluck”) + ܠ- (l-) through metathesis and elision of /t/. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
