Inherited from Sanskrit भार (bhāra, “a burden, load, weight, heavy work, labour”). Cognate to Sinhalese බර (bara, “heavy, weighty, cumbersome, important”). Doublet of ބަރު (baru), ބަރި (bari), and ބަރަ (bara)
