Borrowed from Classical Persian چرخ (čarx), from Middle Persian 𐫝𐫍𐫡 (chr /⁠čahr⁠/, wheel, cycle), from Proto-Iranian *čaxrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čakrám, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos (wheel, circle). Doublet of चक्कर (cakkar) and चक्र (cakra).
